In our 40th episode–the final for 2020–Sal Roses returns to our podcast, this time to chat about his experience as a supervisor for L.A. City Sanitation services, the city body which has overseen clean-ups of unhoused encampments on L.A.’s sidewalks and beneath L.A.’s freeway underpasses. Sal and I have a heart-felt talk about these clean-ups in the time of “shelter-in-place” orders over the last year, as well as about the critical advocacy work for L.A.’s unhoused by groups such as StreetWatch-LA and Ktown For All. We also talk at length about coming up in L.A. as Latinx people under various political dimensions and cultural moments in the city over the last decade, plus more. A super-fun end-of-the-year episode for Los Angeles. Find Sal’s latest album at: @salrosestheoriginal.
