New L.A. Bikes Los Angeles

It was a great day for the students of New Los Angeles Charter Middle School in Mid-City Los Angeles yesterday! Students were treated to a free bike clinic, or “bike repair day”, so to speak, along with a free panel on the importance of bike safety, road rules, and even stories about some of the great teams that have been formed out there through a shared love for the bikes. Yolanda Davis-Overstreet of RIDE In Living Color: Bicycling Advocacy, served as the main organizer of the event, which was the first of its kind at the school. Following the bike clinic, attendants participated in a raffle for bike helmets, bike lights, and even two free bikes! Parents and community organizers alike were ecstatic to see such advocacy for alternative forms of transportation in L.A., as was yours truly! To learn about how you can support or participate in more bike clinics in the future, check out Yolanda’s website at Ride In Living Color, and go New L.A.! The future is ours </:D
